Insider Threat Awareness

The organization shall provide insider threat awareness training to all personnel to enable them to recognize and report potential insider threat indicators. Training shall include indicators of insider threats, reporting procedures, and the importance of protecting organizational information, provided to all personnel and updated to address emerging insider threat patterns.

This requirement exists to train personnel to recognize and report potential insider threat indicators, ensuring personnel security awareness and behavior are managed consistently and measurably.

Implementation Guidance

Establish and document the process to train personnel to recognize and report potential insider threat indicators. Define accountable owners, target audiences, required inputs and outputs, delivery or assessment criteria, frequency or triggers, completion requirements, evidence and retention requirements, monitoring, reporting, review, and escalation. Align content and activities with organizational risks, incidents, policies, and emerging threats.
